UPDATE: THE WINTER DANCE ORIGINIALLY PLANNED FOR JANUARY 30 HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUR TO POOR TICKET SALES.
On January 30, Sherwood will have a Winter Dance in the gym. Organized by the SGA Junior Class and Amnesty International, the dance is expected to last around three hours and will have fundraising activities to raise money for Zimbabwe. "Amnesty International wanted to have a dance, so we’re collaborating on that," says Junior Class SGA President Brian Barrett. "We [also] heard from a lot of people that they would like another dance in addition to Homecoming and Prom."
Though it was originally planned to be held on December 19, Principal Bill Gregory did not approve it because of the proximity of the holidays. After that, Gregory proposed having the dance on a Friday night in February. However, due to the fact that there will be a basketball game or wrestling tournament every Friday, more talks went on and a final date was set for the last Saturday of January.
